What is the long puzzles?
A long puzzle takes three moves to win. At this length you must visualise a short sequence and account for the opponent's defences along the way, not just the first reply.
Why the long puzzles matters
Three-move puzzles are the best all-round training: deep enough to build genuine calculation, short enough to do many in a session. Most rating gains come from getting comfortable exactly here.
How to use it to win
Work from the most forcing move and follow each line to its end before switching. Watch for a quiet move hiding among the checks, and do not commit until you have calculated the whole thing.
