Crushing
Punish a blunder to win decisively (about +6 or more).
What is the crushing?
A crushing puzzle asks you to spot the opponent's blunder and play the move that wins by a decisive margin — usually a big chunk of material or a winning attack, leaving the position no longer in doubt.
Why the crushing matters
Capitalising on mistakes is the most direct path to rating: most games below master level are decided by one side blundering and the other noticing. Training the crushing reply makes sure that, when the gift comes, you take it.
How to use it to win
When something looks too good to be true, slow down and check it — the blunder is often real. Look for the forcing line that grabs the material or king, and convert greedily but accurately.
