What is the advantage?
An advantage puzzle is about seizing a clear but not yet overwhelming edge — winning a pawn or the exchange, or reaching a clearly better position — rather than an immediate knockout.
Why the advantage matters
Real games are won by accumulating these smaller edges, not just by spectacular mates. Training to find the best practical move when there is no forced win teaches the patient, accurate play that wins long games.
How to use it to win
When no knockout exists, look for the move that improves your position most concretely: win a pawn, trade into a better endgame, or seize a key file. Small, solid gains add up to the point.
